The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a persistant identifier, which is refenrenced to the location of this object (URL). Pratice shows that URLs are short-lived, so authors and information providers should use mechanism like DOIs to guarantee permanent access to the primary data. The implemented resolving mechanism associates a DOI query with the actual URL and returns that URL to the client.
